Condition: Dry Skin

There are a variety of factors that may cause dry skin, however, dry skin is most often caused by two factors; slowing of exfoliation of skin cells and oxidation. The following oxidizing elements cause dry skin:

• Chlorinated water
• Sun exposure
• Air and wind
• Detergents and cleaning solvents
• Heaters and air conditioners

Additionally, as the body ages, the sebaceous glands do not produce as much sebum, the oil that lubricates the skin. Skin cells which normally exfoliate and reach the surface of the skin every day and a half slow down, resulting in abnormal exfoliation causing dry skin.
